John Wayne Cowger

John Wayne Cowger, 73, of Greenup, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday evening at the funeral chapels. Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery.

John was born on September 1, 1944 in Mattoon, IL the son of James and Freda Blythe Cowger. He married Yong Yoon on October 25, 1980. She survives, along with children Steven (Haorui Yang) Cowger of Savoy, James Cowger of Charleston, Jordan Cowger of Charleston and Freda (Mark) Burson of Greenup; Grandchildren Joni (Whitney) Devall, Jami (Jerrod) Devall and Joseph Burson; Great-Grandchildren Hannah Burson, Kaitlyn Devall, Mashayla Burson, Alexis Burson, Alyssa Beasley, Alania Burson and Yuaine Devall.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald and Richard Cowger.

John was an over the road truck driver for 40+ years. He was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church in Martinsville.
