William "Bill" Roy McElravy

William “Bill” Roy McElravy, 89, of Toledo, IL passed away at 1:00 am on December 17, 2020 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday December 20, 2020 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00 to service time on Sunday at the funeral chapel. Burial with Military Rites by Cumberland County Veterans will be in the Friends Grove Cemetery rural Toledo, IL. Due to the pandemic Dorothy and family would appreciate phone calls and cards in the coming weeks ahead for those who are not comfortable attending services for Bill. Bill was born on December 31, 1930 in Greenup, IL to Arthur and Chlora May (Sherrick) McElravy. He married Dorothy Soliday on December 13, 1953. Surviving is his wife of 67 years, sons William E. (Angela) McElravy and Bryan (Anna) McElravy; a daughter Marie (Brad) Fitch; grandchildren Clayton (Megan) McElravy, Andrew (Haley) McElravy, Rachel Whitney, Amber (Jesse) Sutton, Kyle McElravy (Brittany Lewis), Kaleb (Ashley) McElravy, Kelsey (Nick) Nichols, Michael (Jade) Rook, Jennifer (Dusty) Hickox, Bryce (Jennifer) Fitch and Chelsea (Nathan) Messmer; great grandchildren Layla, Vince, Lance McElravy, Ava, Kendall, Taylor and Henli Rook, Sage and Ridge Burton, Dallas, Hunter, Mackinley and Allyvia Hickox, Achilles, Nottus Sutton, Kaysen and Kendall “Della Rae” Whitney, Evelyn and Gabreil McElravy, Maddison McElravy, Eden and Blythe Fitch. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers Eugene, Lee, Dale, and John David McElravy: two sisters Mary Dooley and Catherine Romack.

Bill was an electrician with the IBEW Local 146 for over 45 years. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a life member of the Greenup VFW post 4598. Memorials can be made to the Greenup VFW.
