Vera L. Scales

Vera L. Scales, 95, of Toledo, IL passed away at 3:15 am on June 29, 2024, at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga, IL.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday July 3, 2024, at the Toledo United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to service time at the church on Wednesday. The burial will be in the Toledo Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL is assisting the family.

Vera was born in Mattoon, IL on December 23, 1928, to Walter and Alda (Maxwell) Jackson. She married Earl Scales on January 12, 1947, and he preceded her in death in 2009. Survivors include her daughter Trena (Terry) Sparks; granddaughters Trisha (David) Katt and Brittany (Kaleb) Scotty; great grandchildren Mason and Damian Scotty, Drake, Vincent, and Sophia Katt. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ruth Jackson and one granddaughter Nicole.

Vera was a homemaker and worked for years at the Brown Shoe Company in Mattoon and Charleston. She was a faithful member of the Toledo United Methodist Church. Memorials can be made to the Toledo United Methodist Church. Online condolences can be expressed at www.barkleyfuneralchapels.com
