Sandra K. Kinnaman

Sandra Kay Kinnaman, 76, of Mattoon passed away at 8:42 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 surrounded by family at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.    

As per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL is assisting the family.

Sandra was born on May 16, 1944 in Neoga, Il, the daughter of Keith and Naomi (Yocum) Whitaker.  She is survived by her life partner of 30 years, Larry Duncan, her children, Gina Wickiser, Paula Bullard (Doug Thoele), and Jimmy Wickiser; grandchildren Adam Burson (Angela Gordon), and Maria Bullard; brother, Larry (Wanda) Whitaker, sister, Brenda Wilson, sisters-in-law, Donna Whitaker, Sherry Duncan (John Seacrest), and Diana Duncan; stepmother, Violet Whitaker, stepsisters, Julie Dowell, and Shelley (Gregg) Carlen; grand puppies Millie and Sammy; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jack Whitaker, nephew Barton Whitaker, and stepbrother, Dennis Stites, and her beloved dog Rusty. 

Sandra graduated from Cumberland High School in 1962 and retired from GE and Penny’s.  She worked hard all her life and lived her life to the fullest, at times racing dune buggies.  Working in her beautiful home and backyard, spending winters in Florida, and genealogy were her favorite things. She loved sunshine, spring flowers and their yearly Kentucky Derby party.  Her family was her treasure and spoiling her beloved grandchildren was her joy.  She was the rock and the glue of her family and will be very dearly missed.
