Russell "Tyke" Glosser

Russell Eugene (Tyke) Glosser, 86, of Weeki Wachee, Florida passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, in Brooksville, Florida.

Russell was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1936, in Cumberland County, Illinois to Ivan “Red” and Frances (Fritts) Glosser.  He was one of eight children born to this marriage. 

He is survived by his wife Patricia; son James Eugene Glosser, and bonus children loved as his own; Danny Rosenstengel, David Mott, John Mott, and Cheryl Serra; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.  He is also survived by one brother, James Glosser and two sisters, Patricia (Patty) Yow and Barbara (Barb) Houser.  Russell’s sister, Sharon Cox passed just six days after his death.  They were preceded in death by grandparents; both parents; one brother; Charles and two sisters; Marie and Sandy.  There are cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends too numerous to mention who mourn his passing and will greatly miss him.

Russell E. Glosser was retired from the US Army.  He served in the Vietnam War and received two Bronze Stars for his actions there.  He was a former Commander of the American Legion Post 566 in Greenup, Illinois. 

Russell was a dedicated and devout Christian who attended church regularly, taught Bible Study classes, and led many people to the Saving Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. 

His funeral service will be held at the Barkley Funeral Chapel, 300 N. Kentucky, Greenup, Illinois.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 on Monday, March 28, 2022.  The funeral service to be officiated by Rev. David Myer from Florida, starting at 12:00 with the burial service following in the Greenup Cemetery with Military Rights by the Cumberland County Veterans.  Following the burial service, a meal for friends and family will be served promptly at 1:00 at the Calvary Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Toledo, Illinois at 209 West Washington Street.
