Roy Dennis Starwalt

Roy Dennis Starwalt of Greenup, Illinois went to his heavenly home on

July 31, 2021 while at Kindred Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup.  Visitation will be held from 4-7pm Tuesday evening at the funeral chapel.

Roy was born on September 16, 1984 to Dennis and Linda Starwalt of Charleston, Illinois.  He graduated from Cumberland High School in 2003 and went on to Lakeland College, where he earned his Associates Degree in agriculture.

Roy married his sweetheart Lindsay Starwalt on July 28th, 2018 in Greenup, Illinois.  They have three children: Hannah Rose McGarigle, Elijah Thomas McGarigle and Hinkley Roy Starwalt. Roy graduated high school early and went to work for Fritts Fertilizer.  He spent several years there before going to Assumption, Illinois and working for Fulk Farms. He later came back home and began working alongside Rob and Jr. Catey at Catey Farms.  Rob and Jr. took Roy under their wing and gave him the opportunity to start farming.  Farming was Roy’s passion.  Roy and his wife began growing their family farm.  It was his dream to have a farm of his own and pass it down to his children.  Roy and his family loved to vacation in Iowa and Minnesota.  When not busy farming, he loved spending time with his friends and family.  He loved hanging out with his cabin crew, playing cards with friends (even if it included cheating), riding 4 wheelers, shooting his guns, and most of all playing with his children.  He would play ball with Hannah, “farm “and build Legos with Eli and Hinkley.  He never could resist wrestling and having tickling matches with each one of them. Roy enjoyed spending his extra time with his wife, driving the countryside many days a week looking at crops and discussing their dreams.  Roy and Lindsay were inseparable, the love they had for one another was unimaginable.  He also enjoyed going to his parents to work on equipment and visit with his parents.  He would spend hours just visiting.  Roy and Lindsay would chuckle when she would tease him about not getting anything done for all the visiting.

Roy is survived by wife, daughter Hannah, two sons Elijah and Hinkley and his parents Dennis and Linda Starwalt.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold and Evelyn Starwalt, Verl and Letha Miller, and his best friend Chad Sponsel.
