He started managing Toledo Builders Supply in 1957, and in 1963 bought the business.  The following year he bought Greenup Builders Supply.  In 1974 he consolidated the businesses into the Greenup location, and in 1980 he completed construction of the new Scott’s Building Center in Greenup, IL.  After he retired he began Scott’s Flooring Company, located inside SBC.

Bob was active in Toledo Kiwanis (later called the Toledo Volunteers), Greenup Industries, First Neighbor Bank board, Neal Center Inc. board, and Toledo Masons.  He attended the Salem UMC Sunday School class.
