Robert "Bob" Kingery

Robert “Bob” F. Kingery, 88, of Greenup, Il passed away at 2:11 p.m. on December 20, 2021, at Cumberland Rehab and Health Care in Greenup, IL.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, December 27, 2021, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 to service time on Monday at the funeral chapel. Burial with Military Rites by Cumberland County Veterans will be in the Harmony Cemetery rural Greenup, IL.

Bob was born in Woodbury, IL on January 12, 1933, to James and Selvia (Slater) Kingery. He married Anna Fern Tipsword on March 8, 1952, and she preceded him on December 31, 2016. Survivors include son David Kingery of Greenup, IL, and daughter Laura (Jim) Light of Toledo; grandchildren Michelle Kingery, Dustin Lawrence, Kim Ryan, Brandon Kingery, Amanda Light, Derek Light, and Ashley Veach; 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Bobby Kingery in 1984; brother Victor Kingery; sisters Margie Sparks, Neoma Strader and June Kingery.

Bob retired in 1995 from Cumberland School Dist. where he was custodian for 26 years. He was affectionately known as “Batman” by the students for generations. He also had worked at Ettelbrick Shoe Company. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. Bob and Anna Fern oversaw the Arts Hall at the Cumberland County Fair for many years. They enjoyed going to craft shows and for twenty plus years wintered in Florida.
