Rex Barger Thompson, 103, of Charleston, IL, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on October 2, 2024 at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga, IL.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday October 4, 2024 in the Janesville Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Rex was born on November 24, 1920, in rural Lerna to Victor and Geneva (Barger) Thompson. He married Juanita Brown on January 31, 1942. He is survived by his children, Roy David (Carole) Thompson and Sharon Joy (Jerry) Mortensen; Grandchildren Brandon (Tina) Thompson and Jenna Mortensen (Christian Matson Alvirez); Great-Grandchildren Brina, Bradon, and Brinton Thompson and Juliana Alvirez. Rex was preceded in death by his wife Juanita; sisters Mae Gibbons, Florine Duncan, and Jean Hallett; and brother Joseph Thompson.
Rex farmed in the Lerna area until his retirement, when he and Juanita moved to Charleston.
Memorials can be made to the Bradbury Free Methodist Church.
