Phyllis (Newlin) Rabb was born March 9, 1947, the first child of John T. and Louise (Reisner) Newlin of Newton IL. She left her earthly body in Boulder, CO on March 18, 2020. A 1966 Graduate of Newton Community High School, she enjoyed choir and especially Mrs. Eaton’s classes. After graduation, Phyllis moved to California to attend Pacific Christian College. Her excellent typing skills landed her a career as a transcriptionist for the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services.
On January 1, 1972, Phyllis married Thomas Rabb and they were blessed with a daughter, Christa Michelle, who survives. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Symone and Sydney Bender and Tom’s children Linda, Richard, and Karen. Other family members still living include two sisters, Vivian Price and Loretta Newlin; sister-in-law Anita (Spray) Newlin; Auntie Florence (Reisner) Weaver; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Phyllis left California in 1980 and moved to Evansville IN. After working for a temp agency, she was employed by two law firms, while attending college, and raising her daughter. She graduated from the University of Evansville with a master’s degree in Computer Programming. She enjoyed working as a programmer for MaddenCo for over 15 years. While in Evansville she was a faithful member of the congregation that grew to become Crossroads Christian Church.
In October 2015, Phyllis moved to Colorado with her daughter's family. She was a voracious reader her entire life, until her eyesight failed, she spent her last days enjoying the mountains around her, listening to her favorite preachers, and being with her family.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, John and Louise; husband, Tom; sister, Loire; brother-in-law, Douglas Wing; brother, Howard Newlin; grandson, Eli Bender.
Per her wishes, her body was cremated. A time of remembrance is planned for Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 2 – 4pm (CST) at 211 East Delaware Street, Evansville IN. Memorial contributions to honor Phyllis may be made to American Center for Law and Justice (aclj.org) or Crossroads Christian Church (cccgo.com).
