Mildred M. Black, 91, of Toledo, IL passed away at 11:45 AM on August 14, 2019 at Cumberland Rehab & Health Care Center in Greenup, IL. Memorial graveside services will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Toledo Cemetery. A meal will be held immediately following at the Toledo Christian Church. Please bring a covered dish. The Barkley Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Mildred was born on October 20, 1927 in Mattoon, IL to William & Lenora (Hornbeck) Bowman. She married Charles F. Black Jr. on January 30, 1947 and he preceded her in death. Surviving are her children Jerry (Michelle) Black, Mike (Penny) Black, Randy (Madeline) Black, Sharon (Jim) Newell and Glenn Black; two daughter in-laws Linda Black and Debbie Black; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sons David Black and Pat Black and one great grandchild; brothers Glen, Frank, Walter, Richard, John and Jim Bowman; sisters Dorothy and Alice. Mildred was a homemaker and co-owner of Black’s Sawmill, she also had Black’s Antique store in Toledo for many years. She was a hardworking woman, who always spoke her mind. She cared about the community she lived in and helped promote it in any way she could. She enjoyed rummage sales, fishing, and animals. Memorials can be made to the Cumberland Rehab Auxiliary fund.
