Michael Duane Barnes

Michael Duane Barnes, 63, of Greenup, passed away on November 6, 2023, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, in Mattoon.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Greenup Municipal Building. The family asks that you please come dressed casually. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family.

Michael was born on March 5, 1960, in Effingham, IL, to Ernie and Donna (Dudley) Barnes. He married Donna Furry on June 25, 2016. Survivors include his wife; children Brandon (Nicole) Barnes, Anthony Barnes, Megan Barnes, Jeremy (Christina) Winkler, Zac Winkler, Nick (Ashley) Cox, and Skyler and Jonathan Nave; grandchildren Hayden, Riley, Jameson, London, Henry, Camdon, Kathryn, Josephine, Elizabeth, Aleaha, Peyton, Braelynn, Rowdy, Josh, Gracie, Faith, and Becca; and brothers Guy Barnes and Lonnie (Teresa) Barnes. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Michael worked at Flex-n-Gate in Effingham. He was a member of the Greenup and Toledo Fire Department. Michael enjoyed woodworking, doing crafts, and anything outdoors.
