Max John William Devall

Max John William Devall, 90, of Greenup, IL passed away at 8:10 am on January 9, 2023, at Lakeland Rehab & Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday January 13, 2023, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Burial will be in the Block Cemetery with Military Rites at a later date.

John was born on July 7, 1932, in Greenup, IL to Wade & Evelyn (Mitchell) Devall. John married Rosalee Paul on January 24, 1955, and she preceded him in 2019. Survivors include his children Richard Devall, Mike (Cheryl) Devall, Greg Devall, Pamela Sidener, Sheila (Joseph) Stratton, and Lisa (Darrell) Davis; grandchildren Tennille Noffke, Derek Davis, Mindy Newbold, Kyle Stratton, Ashley Wellbaum, Brandon Devall, Logan Devall, and Heidi Devall; brother Max (Linda) Devall; sister JoAnn White; numerous great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son; daughter Julie Devall on December 29, 2022; brothers Clinton, Merle, Abe, and Louis Devall; sister Marge Finney.

John worked for many years for Greenup Township and also farmed and worked at Trailmobile. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. Online condolences can be expressed at www.barkleyfuneralchapels.com
