Maudie Younger

Maudie Younger, 101, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 7:30 am on Thursday September 4, 2025, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.

Graveside services will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday September 9, 2025, in the Toledo Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo is assisting the family.

Maudie was born on October 26, 1923, in Toledo, IL to Hugh and Murna (Oakley) Starwalt. She married Robert Mayhall on August 31, 1940, and he preceded her in 1991. Survivors include sons Robert (Darlene) Mayhall Jr, Randy (Karen) Mayhall, and Tim Mayhall; daughters Sandra Kirk and Candace (Roger) Miller; brothers Carl Starwalt and Harry (Judy) Starwalt; sister Gladys Burley; 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, son William Mayhall; brothers Robert, Glenn, Leland, Ross, Paul, Ralph, and Clema Starwalt; and sisters Katie Michlig, Roberta Conrad, and Martha Thomas.

Maudie was a homemaker and worked at Kerns Manufacturing in Neoga for many years. She was an avid reader and was considered a chocoholic by many. Her hobbies consisted of collecting and restoring antiques and dolls, sewing- making bears, quilts, crocheting and embroidery. Maudie was a member of the Toledo Christian Church and the Greenup American Legion Auxiliary.
