Mary Schupp Obituary

Mary Alice Schupp, 83, of Greenup, Il. passed away peacefully on February 11th, 2022, at Cumberland Rehab and Health Care Center. Private family services will be held at a later date. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. will be assisting the family with arrangements.

Mary was born on December 5th, 1938, in Cumberland Co. to Elmer “Sporty” Brandenburg & Lucille (Ward) Brandenburg. She married Jim Whalin on June 6th, 1956, he preceded her on March 6th, 1980. She married John Schupp in 1983, he preceded her in 2011. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bob, Dan, Rick, Terry, and John Brandenburg. Brother-in-laws Bill Goad and Bob Ferguson.

Mary had worked at the coffee shop and at Carr’s -Jewelry and Gifts in Greenup, IL for a few years. She also worked at General Electric for 10 years.  Mary was a Lifetime Member of the Women’s VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed riding the floats in parades, attending meetings, and always looked forward to meeting Uncle Gean daily. Mary was very talented at making handmade quilts that she shared with all of her children and granddaughters. 

Mary will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. She is survived by her sons Jay Whalin of Champaign, Jeff of St. Elmo, granddaughter Melody Whalin, daughter Jamie (husband Ken) Dalton of Greenup, granddaughter Taylor (husband Derrick) Jackson, Great Granddaughter Oaklyn Kenlee Jackson of Jacksonville, Arkansas.

Sisters-Rosie (husband Orval) Walden, Vera Ferguson, Pat (Husband Gary) Evans, Doris Goad, and sister-in-law Bonnie Brandenburg.

Brothers-Joe (wife Annie) Brandenburg, Jim Brandenburg and Ron (wife Marlene) Brandenburg.

Uncle- Gean Brandenburg, as well as several nieces and nephews survive.
