Marjorie E. Brummer

Marjorie E. (Sowers) Brummer, 94, of Jewett, IL passed away on August 16, 2024, at Cumberland Rehab and Health Care Center in Greenup, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial will at 11:00 am on Tuesday August 20, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Montrose, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lee and Goldie (Miller) Sowers and siblings Berlin “Dean” Sowers, Genavieve Jones, Doris “Dot” Kingery and Roy Lee Sowers. She married Edward Brummer on April 3, 1948, they had nine children, Edward Jr., Michael, Rita, Karla, Gregory, Kathryn, Kenneth, James, and Daniel. She was preceded by her son Edward Jr. who perished in the fire at St. Anthony Hospital and Michael, who gave his life in Vietnam and her husband Ed on October 21, 1996.

They had a large family, they created a village of 26 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She was a homemaker and worked outside the home to help support her large family. She was a shy and reserved lady who would rather listen than join the conversation. She loved her family and enjoyed the large family gatherings. We love you Mom and you will be in our daily prayers.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be given to the Cumberland Rehab Auxiliary.
