Marilyn B. Coleman, 85 of Mesa Az, formerly of Lerna, passed away in her home on October 7, 2024. Marilyn was born on August 6, 1939, to Everett and Mary Fern (Gardner) Evans of Toledo, IL. She was united in marriage to Ronald L. Coleman, September 21, 1958. He preceded her in death on October 3, 2007.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM on Saturday October 26, 2024, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time. Burial of cremated remains will be in the Janesville Cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters, Theresa (Scott) Daniels of Effingham and Julie Coleman of Mesa, Az. Along with three grandchildren, Aaron (Kimberly) Sparling of Dieterich, Amanda Sparling of Effingham and Adam Sparling of Effingham. Seven great-grandchildren, Jared Sparling (friend Rachelle), Jackie Sparling, Taylor, Reagan and Kyleigh O’Dell, William and Ivy Sparling. Two great-great grandchildren, Taytum Kingery and Waylon Sparling.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She worked beside Ronald on their farm and retired in 2002 from the Cumberland County Treasurer Office as assistant county treasurer after 30 years.
She is survived by her brother Kenny (Susan) Evans of Mattoon, Sue Grissom of Charleston, and sister-in-law Becky Evans, along with several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ronald, parents Everett and Fern Evans and mother and father in-law James and Gertrude Coleman. And sisters and brother, Phyllis (Glenn) Pieper, Patty (David) Hilligoss, Vera (Ray) Shores, Rex Evans, brother in-law Roger Grissom and a niece and nephew.
