M. Shirley Jones

Mildred “Shirley” Jones, 86, of Greenup, IL, passed away at 7:34 am on September 7, 2020 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital in Mattoon, IL.

Graveside funeral services will be held at a later date in Livonia, Michigan, at Glen Eden Memorial Park. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL is assisting the family.

Shirley was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on October 13, 1933 to Albert Ellis and Mildred Temple Ellis. She grew up in Tucson, Arizona, with her three brothers, Albert (Bud), Donald, and Paul. Most of her life was spent working as a bank teller, but in her 50’s she became an ordained Methodist minister, which she considered her primary occupation. She married Howard Jones in 1980.

Shirley is survived by her son, Mark Steven Sherrick (Debra), grandchildren, Jordan (Amy), Ben, Jennifer (Eric) as well as her great-grandsons: Jaxon, Jasper, Alex and Tucker Sherrick.
