Leroy Powell

Leroy R. Powell, 82, of Lerna, IL passed away at 6:56 PM on March 3, 2021 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday March 9, 2021 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00 to services time on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery.

Leroy was born on June 6, 1938 in Trilla, IL to Edmond Jesse and Irene (Niccum) Powell. He married Carolann Yaw on February 16, 1957 and she preceded him on June 4, 2020. Surviving is a daughter Tamie Evans; grandson Joshua (Carla) Evans; 2 great grandchildren and sister Arlene Powell. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son in law Dennis Evans, and brother Jesse Powell.

Leroy was a welder and worked for Caterpillar in Decatur for 35 years. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Cancer Center at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Online condolences can be expressed at www.barkleyfuneralchapels.com
