Leon Ray, 80, of Toledo, IL passed away at 1:39 AM on February 9, 2021 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.
Memorial services will be at a later date. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo is assisting the family.
Leon was born on June 16, 1940 in Toledo, IL. to Ola and Aslee (Lake) Ray. He married Marilyn McClain on May 16, 1959. Surviving is his wife; daughters Peggy (Lee) Waller of Greenup, IL, and Linda (Tim) Strohl of Neoga, IL.; grandchildren Tim Strohl Jr, Weston (Morgan) Waller, Brad (Samantha) Strohl, and Kevin Strohl; great grandchildren Katelyn, Wyatt, Kyndall, Stetson, and Rowan Strohl, Levi, and Ava Waller. Leon was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Lloyd, Loren, Charles, and Lonnie Ray, sisters Ruby Crawford, Freda Stallings, and Alberta Shoot.
Leon worked at ANAMET Electrical in Mattoon for 30 plus years. He also had worked for Quinn and Century Broom makers. He was a master woodworker. He handcrafted a guitar for each of his grandkids and great grandkids. Leon enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandkids. Memorials can be made to the family.
