Judith Karen (Robinson) Shafer

Judith Karen (Robinson) Shafer, age 84, of Jewett, formerly of Cerro Gordo, IL passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. 

Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm noon on Saturday November 15, 2025, at the Jewett Community Church: 806 Adams Street, Jewett, IL 62436, with Pastor Shane Peters officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm service time on Saturday November 15, 2025, also at the Jewett Community Church.  The burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery directly following the service. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Judy was born April 15, 1941, near Lovington, IL, daughter of Roy E. Robinson and Faye A. (Appleby) Robinson. Judy married Larry J. Shafer on June 17, 1962.  He preceded her in death in 2005. Judy retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Postmaster at Camargo, IL.  She enjoyed singing, playing piano and reading.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and precious time with Christina.  She is survived by her two sons Thad A. (wife, Diane) Shafer of Jewett, IL and Dennis L. (wife, Jennifer) Shafer of Ruckersville, VA, and daughter Jody D. (husband, Randy) Henderson of Sullivan, IL. Nine grandchildren: Seth A. (wife, Vannessa) Shafer of Sigel, IL;  Gabe F. Shafer, of Greenup, IL; Jacob L. Shafer of Ashburn, VA; Dylan L. (wife, Tori) Shafer of Virginia Beach, VA; Colton D. (wife, Jessica) Henderson, Red Bud, IL; Paige N. (husband, Chris) Cosmas of St. Louis, MO; Coen G. Shafer, Toledo, IL; Garrett J. (wife, Shannon) Shafer of Fredericksburg, VA; and Quinn D. Shafer of Charlottesville, VA. 14 Great-Grandchildren:  Molly, Madison, Abby, Drew, Remi, Novelle, Owen, Cooper, Dane, Wren, Sloane, Peyton, Sutton, and Lilith. Sister: Carolyn Sowers of Jewett, IL; sisters-in-law: Karen Clark of Knoxville, TN; Judy (husband, Dwight) Higgs of Jewett; brother-in-law: Jerry R. Shafer of Jewett, IL. Preceded in death by husband Larry, brother Blaine Robinson, parents Faye and Roy, brothers-in-law: Albert Sowers and John Clark.
