Judith Ann Barnes

Judith Ann Barnes, age 80, formerly of Jewett Illinois, passed away on March 20th at 6 p.m.at Cumberland Rehab & Healthcare in Greenup surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday March 24, 2022, at the Jewett Community Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening at the church. Burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL is assisting the family.  

Judy was born December 10th, 1941, to Mildred “Evelyn” (Bright) and Clifford Mooday at their home in rural Toledo.  She married Ronnie Lee Barnes on February 16, 1958.  The two were married just shy of 61 years when he preceded her in death on January 7, 2019. 

Judy was a member of the Jewett Community Church where she served as treasurer for many years.    She was known to be a talented seamstress.  She worked at Whitehouse Manuf. and Brumleve Canvas in Teutopolis, and Kern manufacturing in Neoga to name a few.  From baby clothing to boat covers, she could sew or repair anything.   She will fondly be remembered for her tradition of making homemade donuts on the first big snow of each year.  Her kids and grandkids looked forward to gathering in her kitchen to enjoy them after sledding at the farm. 

Judy is survived by her four children, Steve (Julie Figgins) Barnes, Teresa (Kim) Allison, Danita (Brad) Starwalt and Rhonda (Troy) Wilson; nine grandchildren Kendra (Travis) Brading, Kyle (Jessi) Allison, Tiffany (Justin) Wallace, Jennifer (Cameron) Finney, Jeff (Sydney) Barnes, Macie (Logan) Boyd, Clay (Leah) Wilson, Makenzie (Tyler) Flood and Gabby Barnes, as well as 21 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister, Karen Hamann and sister-in-law, Nancy Mooday.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Jerry Mooday and brother-in-law, Cal Hamann.
