Obituary
Joy D. Collings, 93, of Oblong, IL. passed away at 3:28 pm on March 4, 2022, at her residence.
Memorial graveside services will be held on Wednesday March 16, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Mound Cemetery, in Willow Hill, IL. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL is assisting the family.
Joy was born in Tell City, IN on November 4, 1928, to Charles Doisy and Gilberta (Keown) Bruner. She married Harold Lewis and had three children Jerry, Gayle, and William. In 1975 she married Orville Collings and adopted a daughter Darlene. Survivors include Jerry David Lewis, Gayle Lewis, William “Bill” Lewis, and Darlene Russell; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren; brother Charles Bruner and sister Carol Allen. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Lloyd and Robert Bruner.
Joy was a homemaker and owned and operated a restaurant at the junction of route 49 and route 33 for many years. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and mushroom hunting. Joy was always outside staying busy.
