Joseph "Joe" Nichols

Joseph “Joe” A. Nichols, 32, of Greenup, IL passed away at 2:24 am on Friday August 8, 2025, due to an accidental fall.

The memorial service will take place at Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup on Friday, August 15, 2025, starting at 7:00 pm. A memorial visitation will be from 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm also at the funeral chapel.

Joe was born on September 17, 1992, in Champaign, IL to Stacy and Julie (McKinzie) Nichols. He married Amanda Stoops on May 13, 2023. Survivors include his loving wife, Amanda; parents Stacy (Judy) Nichols and Julie Nichols; bonus sons Ben Houser and Abe Houser; sister Sarah; Uncles Andy (Lisa) Nichols, Charles McKinzie, and David McKinzie; and grand-mother Helen Ryan. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Nichols; grandparents Neil Ryan, and Leroy and Wanda McKinzie; and an infant nephew Joseph Nichols.

Joe had a great work ethic and worked at Evapco in Greenup. He was proud to be a laser operator on second shift. Outside of work he enjoyed riding 4-wheelers, fishing, guns, fixing computers, helping people, and rescuing all animals. He loved his dogs Killer Dog and Pig.

Joe was an exceptional man, a loving, caring, and patient husband. In Amanda’s words, “he was the calm to her storm.” He was an old soul and will be missed beyond measure.
