John David Lewis

John David Lewis, 68, of Greenup, Illinois passed away at 3:03 p.m. on Friday February 21, 2025, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

            A Memorial Service will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday March 1, 2025, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. A Memorial Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to service time also at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Burial will be at a later date in the Harmony Cemetery.

            John was born on January 8, 1957, in Mattoon, Illinois to George Jr. and Faye (Kemper) Lewis. John is survived by his daughters Jodi (Tim McCoy) Workman and Katie (Trevor Tarr) Lewis; brother Jim (Connie) Lewis; brother-in-law Harold Cox; sisters Peggy (Dave) Reese and Mary (Scott) Jewel; grandchildren Nash (Alisha VanTassel) Workman and Shea Workman. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Max Lewis; sisters Diane Duvall, Jane Maxwell Everett, and Yvonne Cox; and grandson Seith Paul.

            John owned and operated his own construction business “Lewis Construction” for many years. John was also a member of the Cumberland County Sportsman Club.

            In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Cumberland County Sportsman Club.
