Jerry H. “Greenbean” Green 77, of Greenup, IL passed away at 10:12 AM Friday, April 10, 2020 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center Mattoon, IL.

A drive by visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. We ask that you please enter from Elizabeth Street (between Dairy Queen and Casey’s) head west until you meet the end of the line. You will enter the East drive of the funeral home and circle around to the front and exit the West drive. We ask that you please stay in your cars as you pay respects to the family as you drive by. Private family burial will be in the Harmony Cemetery rural Greenup, IL.  

Jerry was born on November 6, 1942 in Effingham, IL the son of Doyle and Marjorie (Huddlestun) Green. He married Judith Winnett on September 21, 1962 and she preceded him on February 8, 2006. He is survived by his daughters, Julia (Charlie) Sappington and Jackie (Michael) Brockett; five grandchildren, Jerry, Josie and Mason Brockett and Coleman (Shelby) Sappington and Jacob (Alyssa) Sappington; four great grandchildren Kyndel, Zayne, Camden and Declan Sappington; brothers Dick (Penny) Green, Dan (Trudy) Green, Dave Green, Joe (Tonya) Green, Jim (Maria) Green, John (Connie) Green; sisters Linda Winnett, Mona (Nick) James, Lou Ellen Connour and Judy (Raymond) Lynn. Jerry was preceded by his parents, one brother Larry Green and an infant sister Bonnie.

 Jerry was a 50-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 841 in Terre Haute, IN. He was a 50 year member of Greenup Masonic Lodge AF&AM #125.  He was a very active member of the Cumberland County Sportsman’s Club for over 50 years and has served as Treasurer for 40 years. Jerry joined the Greenup Volunteer Fireman in 1977, he was Fire Chief from 1984 to 1995.
