Janis Rae (Herman) Niccum

Janis Rae Niccum, 84, of Charleston, IL and formerly of Greenup, IL, passed away at 12:32 pm on October 26, 2023, at the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home, in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday October 31, 2023, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. There will be a 1-hour visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service. Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery.

Janis was born on June 14, 1939, in Charleston, IL. She was a daughter of Edgar and Dorthy (Reynolds) Herman. She married Max Niccum, and he preceded her in death. Survivors include sons Ron (LuAnn) Bennett and Troy Bennett; Daughter Julie Bennett- Young; brother Ronnie (Lennie) Heddins; sisters Linda Haga, and Jane Herman (Liz Sansare); grandchildren Holly (Andrew) Pennington, Ronnie (Kim) Bennett, Jessica (Mitch) Dukeman, Travis Bennett and fiance’ Heidi Barr, Kyle Bennett, Leandra Young, Zac (Mai Xee Vang) Lawyer, and Hanna Lawyer; numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons Doug Lawyer and Robert Bennett; brother Kenny, and sister Wilma; and one great grandchild.
