Helen K. Chambers

Helen K. Chambers, 83, of Toledo, IL passed away at 9:05 am on August 27, 2021, at the Cumberland Rehab & Health Care Center in Greenup, IL.

Celebration of life services will begin at 11:00 am on Thursday September 2, 2021, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be at a later date in the Jewett Cemetery.

Helen was born on December 8, 1937, in New Boston, Michigan to John William and Crystal Marie (Meyers) Downam. She married Marvin Chambers on December 30, 1954, and he preceded her on July 27, 2003. Survivors include her sons Wes (Billie) Chambers of Toledo, IL, and William (Doreen) Chambers of Ocala, FL; sister Joan Cotton; four grandchildren Chasity (Brian) Dunaway, Gennie Twombly, Michael Chambers and Jessica Sanchez; two great grandchildren Liberty Dunaway and Virgil Sanchez. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; son Matthew Chambers in 2001; brother Clayton Downam; and a sister Nada Downam.

Helen was a homemaker and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She has been on the Life Center of Cumberland County board since 2005.
