Hazel Louise Gentry, 93, of Mattoon, IL formally of Woodbury, IL passed away at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Palm Terrace in Mattoon, IL.
Private family services will be held at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery at a later date.
Hazel was born October 24, 1927 in Union Twp to Ezra and Freada (Carrol) Carver. She married Lyle Wesley Gentry on December 21, 1945 and he preceded her is death on June 16, 1968. She is survived by her son, Larry (Ann) Gentry; daughters, Mary (Larry) Kingery and Cindy (Robert) Abraham; grandchildren, Tammy (Ted) Schnorf, Josh (Elaine) Brandenburg, Lyle (Christy) Gentry, Kim (Eric) Starwalt, and Wayne (Tracy) Kingery; 13 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Hazel worked at General Electric in Mattoon and was also a farmer’s wife. She was a member of Woodbury United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary, and the Legion Auxiliary.
