Gerald D. McGinnis

Gerald D. McGinnis, 73, of Jewett, IL passed away at 10:04 am on January 17, 2025, at his residence.

Memorial services will be at 7:00 pm on Friday January 24, 2025, at the Barkley Funeral chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral chapel. The burial will be in the Jewett cemetery with Military Rites by Cumberland County Veterans at a later date.  

Gerald was born on May 23, 1951, in Greenup, IL  to Gerald and Collas (Matteson) McGinnis. He married Judith Nash on June 29 ,1975, and she preceded him on May 7, 2021. Survivors include sons Gerald (Linda) McGinnis, Jeff Nash, and Brian (Michelle) Brown; daughter Jennifer Epperson; grandchildren Nicole (Joe) Mintum, Katyln Epperson, Alexander Thomas Robert, Rachel Epperson, Jade (Josh) Schafer, Alexander McGinnis, and Sara McGinnis; one great grandchild Jessica Thilker; brothers William “Bill” (Terry) McGinnis, Joseph “Joe” (Anita) McGinnis; sisters Judith Wallace and Kathy (Roy) Bartels. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Linda Craig.

Gerald served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972. He was a life member of the Greenup VFW and also a member of the Greenup American Legion.
