Gay D. Murphy, 86, of Greenup, IL passed away at 2:23 am on Thursday May 23, 2024, at the Cumberland Rehab and Health Care Center in Greenup.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday May 29, 2024, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 am at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL.

Gay was born on November 2, 1937, in Chesterville, IL., to Walter W. and Alberta (Dixon) Scott. Gay married Frank D. Murphy in 1965. He preceded her in death in 1993. Survivors include son Ronnie (Becky) Murphy, daughters Connie (John) Green, Theresa Farris, and Lillie Sullivan; 25 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and sister Sheila (Galen) Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, son Danny Murphy, daughters Juanita Farris, and Sheila Murphy, two granddaughters and eight brothers.

Gay was a homemaker.
