Gail Ellen James

Gail Ellen James, 70, of Watson, Illinois, passed away at 6:10 am on Saturday September 30, 2023, at Cumberland Rehab and Health Care, in Greenup, IL.

A celebration of life visitation will be held on Friday October 6, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Burial will be at a later date.

Gail was born on November 13, 1952, the daughter of Melvin and Luella (Bueker) Lilley, in Effingham, IL. Survivors include daughter Sarah H. (Ricky) Stein (James); grandchild Jaxon Evan James; sisters Jane Lilley, Joyce Deters, Betty Lilley, Mary Ann Wines, and Patricia Miller; brothers Doug Lilley, and her twin Garl (Mary Lou) Lilley. She was preceded in death by her parents, son John R. James, and brother Greg Lilley.

Gail was a 20 plus year long term employee of Fedders and then went on and worked 10 plus years at Casey’s in Teutopolis before retiring.  She was a 2005 graduate of Lakeland College where she earned an associate degree in applied science management. Gail enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, and going to garage sales and was big into collecting ceramic elephants as they were her favorite animal.
