Eric Jon Engel

Eric Jon Engel, 66, of Camargo, IL passed away at 6:00 am on September 26, 2023, at his residence.

Memorial Services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday October 7, 2023, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL. A one-hour memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service on Saturday October 7, 2023, also at the funeral chapel in Toledo. The burial will be at a later date.

Eric was born on September 24, 1957, in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, the son of Ernest and Dolores (Prasuhn) Engel. He married Diane Swearingen on August 16, 1991, at the Little White Chapel, in Las Vegas. Survivors include his parents Ernest and Dolores Engel of Whitewater, Wisconsin; wife Diane Engel of Camargo, IL; stepson Steven (Chasity) Carr of Toledo, IL; stepdaughter Amy (Dannie) Gordon of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren Makayla Devall, of Mattoon, and Kenley and Dutton Carr of Toledo; brothers Thomas (Denise) Engel of Bovey, Minnesota and Dr. Timothy (Penny) Engel of Glenwood City, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

Eric attended the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, where he received his bachelor’s degree in science and agriculture. He worked as a soil scientist for 14 years before becoming an Electronic Technician for the United States Postal Service where he worked for 25 years. Eric was an avid and lifelong Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, bicycling, gardening, and playing the guitar. Eric was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed but the loving memories will be forever treasured.
