Ellen L (Grissom) Clark

Ellen L. Clark, 88, of Jewett, IL passed away at 9:40 am on June 22, 2021, at the Cumberland Rehab & Health Center in Greenup, IL.

Celebration of Christian Mass will be at 10:00 am on Monday June 28, 2021, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Montrose, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday evening at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Burial will be in the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery in Montrose, IL.

Ellen was born in rural Neoga, IL on April 11, 1933, to Joseph “Joe” and Edith Josephine (Carter) Grissom. She married Don Clark on February 20, 1954, and he preceded her in the death on February 1, 2020.

 Surviving include children Mary Lou (Bill) Markwell of Jewett, Whitney (Johnna) Clark of Jewett and Eric (Maria) Clark of San Quirino, Italy; grandchildren Aaron Markwell, Adam Markwell, Ryan Markwell, Darcy Bone, Jennifer Fitch, Seth Clark, Sam Clark, Alexia Clark and Dylan Clark; great grandchildren Carson, Carter and Evan Markwell, Briggs Markwell, Paisley, Adlee and Wade Bone, Eden and Blythe Fitch, Harrison and Rowan Nepute, and Grayson Clark; brothers Dean (Ruthie) Grissom of Montrose and Curtis Grissom of Mattoon. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Donald Wayne Grissom, Dick (Richard Lee) Grissom and Dale E. Grissom; sisters Hazel Elliott and Ruth Croy.

Ellen was a farmer’s wife, a homemaker and had worked at Scott’s Building Center in Greenup in the past. She spent several years as an in-home caregiver. Ellen was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Montrose and OSF Ordo Secular Franciscan since 2005.

Memorials can be made to either HSHS Hospice or to St. Rose Catholic Church.
