Elizabeth Lake Pitcher Obituary

Elizabeth Anne (Gammill) Lake Pitcher, 83, of Charleston, formerly of the Lerna and Greenup areas, passed away at 11:25 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2019 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

 

Services will be Friday, September 20, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Toledo United Methodist Church, 213 E. Madison St., Toledo, IL.  Visitation will be from Noon until time of the service at the church.  Arrangements are being handled by Barkley Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be in the Janesville Cemetery.

 

Elizabeth was born March 15, 1936 in rural Trilla, IL, the daughter of J. Clint and O. Blanche (Randolph) Gammill.  She married Lawrence C. Lake in Center, TX on June 7, 1958.  He passed away in 1980.  She later married Earnest R. Pitcher on December 27, 2003.  He passed away in 2014. 

 

Elizabeth is survived by three daughters, Diana (Stan) Lanman of W. Lafayette, IN, Gail (Tom) Grissom of Greenup, and Carla (Don) Harding of Charleston, a son-in-law, Scott (Michelle) McMurray of Waterford, WI and step-children, Jack (Robin) Pitcher, Melvin (Patti) Pitcher and Marilyn (David) James all of rural Jewett.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren and their families, T.C. (Kristy) Grissom, Abigail and Collin of Ashmore, Callie (Austin) Nunamaker, Madeline and Claire of Charleston, Nicole (Drew) Haumesser, Drake, Luke and Adley of Greenup, Candace (Tyler) Overton, Tate, Bryn and Bridget of Mattoon, Katie (Jeff) Gross, Charles and Teagan of Austin, MN, Cptn. Adam (Samantha) McMurray of Ft. Drum, NY, Amber and Alex Lanman of W. Lafayette, IN, and several step-grandchildren and their families, and one cousin, Jane (Fred) Richter and their family of Lerna. She was preceded by her daughter, Debra (Debbie) McMurray and one sister, Mildred Pennington.

 

Elizabeth was employed at the First National Bank of Lerna for 21 years before retiring in 2001.  She had a life-long love of farming and being outdoors.  She was a member of the Cottonwood United Methodist Church, the Cumberland Co. Home Extension and the Cumberland Rehab. Ladies’ Auxiliary.  Her main joy in life was her family and spending time with them.
