Edward Hurst

Edward Joshua “Papa Cow” Hurst, 66, of Lerna, IL passed away at 8:29 pm at Willow Breeze Hospice house in Mattoon.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday April 30, 2026, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo. The burial will be at a later date at the Upper Muddy Cemetery.

Ed was born on September 26, 1959, in Mattoon, IL, to Clinton and Dorothy (Bence) Hurst. Survivors include son Joshua (Mindy) Hurst; grandchildren Logan Miller, Makenzie Hurst, and Hailey Hurst; siblings Terry, Larry, Betty, Donna, Joyce, and Pam. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Jim and Paula.

Ed worked as a livestock farmer. He enjoyed raising and trading livestock and spending time with his grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to the Willow Breeze Hospice House.
