Debbie Jo Johnson

Debbie Jo Johnson, 69, of Effingham, IL passed away at 8:58 p.m. on February 10, 2025, at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday February 13, 2025, at the Toledo Christian Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the church. The burial will be in the Toledo Cemetery.

Debbie was born on July 3, 1955, in Mattoon, Illinois to Jim and Ann (Robinson) Sowers. She is survived by her sons Cody (Jess) Johnson and Chase Johnson; daughters Dustan (Jerry) Goodwin and Chelsea Sipes; brother Jeff Sowers; sisters Becky Heuerman and Christie Ervin; sister in law Lisa Sowers; grandchildren Conner Jo Yates, Kiersten (Austin) Huckaba, Caleb Russell, Ashton Dunn, Jaden Sipes, Mason Black, Rhett Johnson, and Reagan Johnson; great-grandchildren Caylynn, Eleanor Jo, Lincoln, Hudson, Winnie, Kinley, and Weston. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; son Korey Joe Russell; brother J.B. Sowers; brother in laws Larry “Pupper” Heuerman and Greg Ervin; grandchildren Dayton and Chandra Painter.

Debbie worked at Stevens Industry in Teutopolis, Illinois for 20 years and was a sales associate at Kohl’s in Effingham for many years before retirement.
