David E. Woolever, 91, of Mattoon, IL passed away on February 2, 2024, at 11:20 pm at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday February 7, 2024, at the First Baptist Church 1804 S. 9th St. Mattoon, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday at the church. The burial will be in the Harmony Cemetery in rural Greenup, IL. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL is assisting the family.
David was born on November 25, 1932, in Diona, IL to Hollie and Nora (Baumgartner) Woolever. He married Kathryn Bright on January 7, 1951, and she preceded him in 1989. On August 23, 1991, he married Shirley Drury. Survivors include his loving wife Shirley; children Lynn (Ella) Woolever, Janet (Randall) Stierwalt, Jo Ann (Don) Huskey, Stacey Fisher, and Tim (Tracey) Trinkle; grandchildren Rebekah (Mike) Doty, Rachel (Josh) Hicks, Chuck (Brenda) Layton, Katie (Travis) Hendrix, Matt Woolever, Tyler (Camilla) Trinkle, Cole Trinkle, and Chase (Destyni) Trinkle; great grandchildren Lainey, Ethan, Brayden, Elijah David, Jacob, Haley, Becca, Taylor, Macie, Kierstyn, Arinana, Myla, Luisa, Isaiah, Jaxson, and Alissa; and a little buddy Astro. David was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Ben, Ken, and Billie Woolever.
David was a farmer and worked at Blaw-Knox in Mattoon for 11 years. After he retired, he worked at Walmart for 18 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL. He was also a member of Gideons International. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church or Gideons International.
