Carol Jean (Kingery) Turner

Carol Jean Turner, 64, of Toledo, passed away at 2:12 am on April 12, 2023, after a courageous 20-year fight with cancer.

There will not be any services at this time, per Carol’s wishes. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo is assisting the family.

Carol was born on July 25, 1958, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the daughter of Frank J. and Brigitte (Gratzch) Kingery.  She is survived by her mother Brigitte; son Joshua (Lori) Kingery; brother Frank James (Bobbi) Kingery Jr.; grandchildren Tanner Kingery and Kenzie Kingery; best friend Phyllis (Don) Taylor; and niece Krista. Carol was preceded in death by her father.

Carol worked for her parents as a cook at the 5 Star Café on the square in Toledo for many years. Then she went on to work in food services at Eastern Illinois University for 18 years. She loved being outside gardening, enjoying life, and her grandchildren. The family would like to send sincere thanks to Camryn Carlen and Lincolnland Hospice, the nurses and staff at the Sarah Bush Cancer Center, and caregivers Marie Kemper, Troy Kemper, Marla Markwell, Christina Kingery, and Lowell Kingery for their many acts of kindness during her battle with cancer.
