Carl Dean Fogle, age 87, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, July 8, 2023, in Cedar Park, Texas. He was born August 25, 1935, in Jewett, Illinois, to Harold “Raymond” and Grace (Barnes) Fogle. He completed his undergraduate work at Eastern Illinois University, received his master’s at University of Illinois, and completed his pre-doctorial requirements at both University of Illinois and St. Louis University. Known as Dean, he never met a stranger, and everyone was his friend. On August 10, 1957, Dean married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy May (Seeley) Fogle, embarking on a 64-year journey marked by enduring love and unwavering companionship.
Dean was raised to consider everyone as equals and to help those less fortunate. He carried this code of ethics into his career in Special Education, becoming a trailblazer in the field both at the State and National levels. Being a 4th generation Fogle of Cumberland County, Dean was proud of his family and heritage. Dean and Dorothy assured that their children, Alan Dean and Lisa Marie, maintained that connection by hosting annual family reunions. He was a loving grandfather and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchild. His storytelling abilities were unmatched and brought joy to anyone who had the good fortune of his company.
Family, friends and others whose lives were touched by Dean and Dorothy are invited to a graveside memorial at the Jewett Cemetery at 10 am on Saturday, June 15, 2024, to celebrate their legacy as they will be united again in their final burial place.
