Suzanne Bland

Suzanne Bland, 84, of Greenup, IL passed away at 4:30 AM on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday April 19, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Greenup. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to service time on Friday at the church. The burial will be private family immediately following the church service in the Greenup Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family.  

Suzanne was born November 8, 1934 in Greenup, IL the daughter of Carl and Evelyn (Sims) Roberts. She married Doit Bland on December 16, 1955 and he preceded her in 2006.  She is survived by her children Kathy (Mark) Roberson of Flora, IL and Ben (Jeannie) Bland of Toledo, IL; brother David (Jan) Roberts; grandchildren Natalie (Jason) Hurd, Lauren Bland, Joshua (Rosie) Bland, and Emily (Devon) Painter; One great grandchild Harrison Hurd. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Bette Mae Roberts.

Suzanne retired from Village Clerk in Greenup after 31 years. She was a member of the  Greenup Baptist Church, Illinois Municipal Clerk’s Association, Cumberland Booster Club, American Diabetes Association, Greenup  Women’s Club, Women’s Civic Club, Cumberland County Historical Society, past Director of Cumberland County Mental Health Association, Delta Zeta Sorority Alumni Association, Bridge Club of both Casey and Toledo, and the DAR of Effingham, IL.
