Richard A. Fearheiley

Richard Allen Fearheiley, 85, of Decatur, IL has gone to a better place on January 31, 2019 at Generations at McKinley Place in Decatur, IL.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL. Visitation will be from noon to service time on Saturday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Toledo Cemetery.

 He was born in Filmore, IL on December 15, 1933, to Joe and Dorothy (Herren) Fearheiley. He graduated from Lawrenceville High School. He attended U of I before graduating from Eastern Illinois University. He served in the Army in Augusta, GA, where he married Joyce Lashmet on March 15, 1958. They had three children: Michael (Daisy West), Douglas (Melanie Ishmael), and Joni Fearheiley, and 5 grandchildren: Gaelle Fearheiley, Benjamin Toney, Angela Fearheiley, Jessica Toney and Kane Allen Ishmael Fearheiley. He leaves behind a brother Mike Fearheiley, and sister JoAnn Beernick and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He taught for 33 years at the Decatur Public School District and worked for 35 years at Country Insurance. Special thanks to two wonderful nurses who took special care of him: Lyndra and Martha. Also thanks to a number of other nurses and CNAs at Generations at McKinley, who took great care of him as well. Joyce would like to say a special thanks to some great friends, who helped during this difficult time: Colleen, Donna O., Janet and Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Judy McKinney and Jane Lawson. He will be greatly missed, especially for his great sense of humor.
