Mabel (Tolch) Collier

Mabel T. Collier, 96, of Toledo, Illinois passed away at 4:45 PM on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at The Heartland Christian Village in Neoga, Illinois.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Toledo United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Monday at the church. Burial will be at Toledo Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.  

She was born on January 29, 1922 to Cyrus E. And Esther Tolch on the family farm in Roslyn, Spring Point Township, Cumberland County, Illinois. Mabel attended Buchanan School and Graduated from Neoga High School in 1939. That fall she married Clarence C. Collier.

Mabel was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Clarence C. Collier; her parents, Cyrus and Esther Tolch; her older sister, Geneva and her husband Louis Meislahn. Surviving are her daughter, Ellen Schubert (Ken), of Wilmington, DE and her son Malcolm Collier (Vicky) of Burlington, KY. Grandchildren are Bret Collier (wife Reagan and daughter Kennedy), of Baton Rouge, LA, and Lexx Collier (wife Jana and son Evan) of Seattle, WA, and Laurie Schubert (husband Andrew Repoza) of Naperville, IL.

Mabel was an active participant in village life in Toledo where she served as postmaster for several years. She served in the Toledo United Methodist Circuit churches as the pastor’s wife and later in many ways. Mabel served on the board of the Sumpter Township Library and volunteered at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital.
