Lenore Higgins

Lenore Higgins, 102, of Newton, IL passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Villas of Holly Brook in Newton, IL.

            Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday June 26, 2018 at the First Baptist Church 400 W. Washington in Newton, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to service time at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Hazel Dell Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting with arrangements.

            Lenore was born on October 5, 1915 in Yale, IL to Joseph and Eva (Huddlestun) Ault. She married R. Don Higgins on March 10, 1947 and he preceded her in death on February 1, 1988. She is survived by few relatives and has many caring friends and she will be sadly missed. Lenore was a farmer’s wife. She was a talented musician and played the organ at church and funerals for many years. She attended the First Baptist Church in Newton and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Newton.

            Memorials in her name can be made to either Lincolnland Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.

            A very special thank you to all the caregivers and staff at Villas for the years of service to Lenore while at her home and the Villas of Holly Brook.
