He was born August 18, 1960 to C. Carroll and Mary (Stitt) Ervin. Greg went from walking to working while hooked to his Dad’s belt loops whether it was building boats, working on race cars, or erecting hog barns.
He turned his dreams into reality, time and time again. Greg saw the big picture in life at an early age. He started his first business at age 15 when he purchased a tractor and rented farm ground from a relative.
With the founding of Ervin Trucking in 1981, he got his start hauling sand and gravel to construction sites. As he sold old equipment to make way for the new, he quickly recognized the incredible unmet demand for pre-owned inventory. This led to the creation of Ervin Equipment Incorporated in 1991, with its focus on selling and leasing equipment within the transportation industry.
Greg had an even greater love for his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Christie Sowers, in 1978. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. He leaves behind his wife Christie, their daughter, Kylee Ervin and husband Justin Ward, grandchildren Paxton (9), Payton (7). Son, Cole and Season Ervin, grandchildren Jett (8), Eve (5), Judd (5). Mother, Mary Ervin and sister, Barb Hall. He was preceded in death by his Dad, Carroll Ervin in 2013.
Greg was tenacious, honest, hard-working, fun-loving, high energy, influential, and instrumental. Greg was passionate about his hometown community and worked tirelessly to preserve its future. His legacy will continue to impact lives for generations to come.
