Gary L. Rice

Gary L. Rice, 67, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 12:10 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial will be in the Janesville Cemetery.

Gary was born April 6, 1952 the son of Irvin and Alma (Lamb) Rice. He married Shirley (St John) Reed on May 16, 2009 and she survives. Gary is survived by two sons, Chad (Raquel) Rice and Matt (Kori) Rice; two stepchildren, Michelle Peadro (Kurt) Theriault and Mike (Tina) Peadro; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Terry (Judy) Rice and Barry Rice; two sisters, Joy (Randy) Shinn and Melinda Lewis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, three brothers, three sisters, and his parents.

Gary’s grandchildren held a very special place in his heart, and he was very proud of his family. He will be missed by his dogs Evander, Swayze, Mabel and especially Bella.Gary enjoyed spending time riding his motorcycle and woodworking.
