Darlene Hope Shanks

Darlene Hope Shanks, 65, of Yale, IL passed away on January 4th 2018 at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday January 9th 2018 at the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church 20975 E. 2100th Ave Yale, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 to service time at the church. Burial will be in the Bradbury Cemetery West York. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family.

Hope was born on January 24, 1952 in Terre Haute, IN to Jess & Florence (Tischer) Roe. She married Robert E. Shanks on June 10, 1979. Surviving is her husband; Son Thomas (Teresa) Draper of Mason, IL; Daughter May Jolene Draper of Hymera, IN; Grandkids Kaylab Rhoads of Marshall, Garrett Myles of Hutsonville, IL, Katie Rush of Mason, IL, Clarence Hardiman and Parker Hardiman both of Robinson, Madison Draper and Mason Draper both of Mason, IL; Brothers Kenneth (Jane) Roe of Hinsboro, IL and Dale Roe of Greenup; Sister Patty (Glenn) Plummer of Martinsville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Allen, Richard, Neal, May, Jerry and Marietta Roe.

Hope was a home maker and was a CNA at Heartland Manor Nursing Home in Casey for many years. Hope enjoyed Reading, walking in the woods, flowers, feeding the birds, riding horses, she loved siting and watching nature, but most of all she cherished time spend with her family friends and grandkids.  Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society 2003 N.
