Rev. Carl C. Cummins, 76, of Greenup, IL went to be with the Lord at 6:15 pm on October 18, 2011 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center in Mattoon, IL after a 20 year battle with Parkinson's disease.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be at 10:00 am on Friday October 21, 2011 at the Greenup United Methodist Church. Visitation will from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday evening at the church. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be in the Aten Cemetery rural Hidalgo, IL.

Carl was born on November 23, 1934 in Rose Hill, IL the son of Arthur & Pauline Nichols Cummins. He married Loretta James on April 18, 1954. Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Daughters Linda (J.P.) Kelley of Dothan, AL & Kim (Chuck) Faller of Lake Worth, FL; son Chris (Peggy) Cummins of Greenup, IL; brother Larry Cummins of Mansfield, GA and sister Arthena (Karl) Probst of Hidalgo, IL; grandchildren Kari Parker & Lauren (Brad) Buchanan both of Dothan, AL, Eric Faller & Zachery Faller of Lake Worth, FL, Adam (Shantell) Cummins of Georgia, Jessie Cummins who is serving his country in Afghanistan and Patrick Cummins of Leesburg, FL; step grandchildren Becky (Chuck) Wood of Greenup, Mike (Jennie) Cline of Greenup, Mitch Mercer of Effingham, IL; great grandchildren Carli and Jaci Parker and Madalyn Buchanan; step great grandchildren Bryson, Cayden, Charlee and Alexis Wood, Makenna Cline and Dominic Mercer. Carl is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew Mark Cummins.

Carl worked for 27 years at Cummins INC in Rose Hill, IL. Then in 1980 Carl joined the ministry of the Southern Illinois United Methodist Conference, after becoming ordained he ministered for 20 years until his retirement in 1999. Carl was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge of Greenup, the Danville Consistory and Aniad Shrine.
