Freda McClain

Jul. 9, 2011 - Nov. 25, 2011 Freda McClain, age 98, of Montrose, IL passed away at 12:17 am on November 25, 2011 at the Cumberland Rehab & Health Care in Greenup, IL.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday November 27, 2011 at the Calvary Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Toledo, IL. Visitation will be held one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in the Montrose Cemetery. Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo is assisting the family.

Freda was born on July 9, 1913 in Hindsboro, IL the daughter of Hinkley & Lydia Starwalt. She married Harold McClain in St. Charles, MO on June 22, 1940 and he preceded her on Oct. 7, 1998. Surviving are her son Bill (Kathy) McClain of Teutopolis, daughter Doris Jean Schorman of Montrose; grandchildren Nathan (Renee') McClain of Dieterich, Monika (Bill) Blackmon of O'Fallon, MO, Derek (Laura) Schorman of Montrose; great grandchildren Bryce & Bailey McClain and Gavin & Kadence Blackmon. Freda was preceded in death by her parents, son in law Donald Schorman, a grandson Darrin Schorman, five brothers and two sisters.

Freda was a homemaker and had worked at Kerns Manufacturing in Neoga, and also was a cook at Montrose Elementary School for many years. Freda loved spending times with family, friends and neighbors, she was a vibrate lady who also enjoyed cooking. She was a member of the Calvary Tabernacle UPC in Toledo, IL.
